Style Fleur Q & A

by Charlotte Olsson Bauer

It's Style Fleur Q & A Friday!

For all of the new Style Fleur followers, WELCOME! :) To keep you all in the loop, every week you have the opportunity to have one of your style questions answered right here!

You can submit your message via email, text, tweet me @thestylefleur or ask in the comments below. I will try to get to one or two every week!

This weeks question is:

Q: I absolutely love Parisian Style but don't know how to achieve the look. What key pieces should I have in my wardrobe to achieve such a chic style? I am in my 60's and also on a very tight budget.

A: Great Question! French women have a way of being able to appear casual yet elegant and make it look so easy! Effortless is a word that springs to mind? You probably have a few key items in your wardrobe already, so here is a list to peruse to get you started. If you are on a tight budget, charity shops, consignment stores, flea markets etc are a great way to update your look without spending a fortune. For example: a silk scarf is one of the top items that French women use to add a splash of colour or whimsy. I just received a vintage one as a gift from my mum from a flea market in Spain and I just LOVE it.

- Mix vintage and modern.

- Mix luxury with high street.

- Add  a touch of colour or whimsy  to basic, neutral pieces.

- Do not follow trends.

- Unfussy hair.

- Have one or two signature pieces, like a classic bag, breton top or a trench coat.

- Go from a nude lip in the day, to a wine red lip at night

Investing in a designer classic bag is one of the best things you will ever do! If you cannot afford a brand new one, why not a slightly used one?? There are so many online consignment stores where you can get top brands, as good as new, for a fraction of the price. Here is my favourite online designer bag consignment store in Beverly Hills: FASHIONPHILE. The service is top notch, they ship internationally and you can also buy on layaway. So, if you are on a tight budget, yipee, you have the option to pay a little off, week by week.

Would you sill like to find out more about the fashion rules that most French women live by? Just because you are not French does not mean you cannot dress as you are, right?! Just remember, to remain true to your authentic self!
